Put A Stop On Distracted Driving!

How many times have we heard about a road accident due to a distracted driver? Some people clearly underestimate the importance of putting your entire attention on the road when driving, but if you don’t wanna be a part of car accident statistic you have to take driving more seriously.

Types Of Distraction

Visual

This basically means diverting your eyes elsewhere instead of looking straight ahead. It may sound unbelievable, but a split-second of not paying attention could lead to collision.

Manual

The direction where the car goes relies entirely on the wheels. So when you take your hands off it to reach for something, you are risking even a tiny bit chance for your car to drift.

Cognitive
Whether you’re daydreaming, worrying about your sick child, or plotting against a rude neighbor, if your mind is not 100% on driving, mistakes could happen.

Common Reasons Why People Get Distracted While Driving

Gadgets
Mobile phones are extremely important these days. However, texting, calling, social media, and games are all mind consuming which is dangerous when you’re on the road. When it comes to driving, you can’t multi-task like that and expect that it’s impossible for you to accidentally hit on the gas or make an abrupt stop in the middle of a busy highway.

Snacking

Having a stash of snack is good, especially during long drives. But if you’re going to eat, don’t do it while you’re on the road driving. Park your car and eat in peace not worrying that you might crash any minute. Spilling your drink could make you frantic and not notice an incoming truck. One hand driving means less control of the wheel. These are just some of the things that can happen when you mix driving with food.

Personal Grooming

We get, we all do. You’re a busy person who is always on the go so there are times that you run late and you have to do your personal grooming as you drive because brushing your hair will only take seconds right? But, no matter what your excuse is, both of your hands need to be on the steering wheel. Haven’t I mentioned it enough that it only takes second for some car to abruptly turn or stop? If that happens while you we’re busy putting on lipstick, how are you going to keep yourself from crashing into that car?

Tiredness
Alertness and reaction time are vital when cruising around town in your vehicle. Therefore, if you lack sleep or had a terribly long day at work, you may fall asleep at the wheel (it happens!) causing you to totally lose control over the car and ability to act in case you’re about to collide into a car, post, or even a tree.
